In 2016, a group of De La Salle University Senior High School students launched Project Taft, a food distribution program for mendicants outside the university.

With funding sourced from their own pockets, the group managed to come up with twenty-five food bags, each with an assortment of food items, a bottle of water, and a pack of juice. With these, they ventured into Taft Avenue’s alleyways, personally handing out the packets to those who needed them.

Inspired by the success of their previous efforts, the group made plans to further organize and expand their pet project. The outbreak of the 2017 Marawi Siege gave the group, now calling themselves The Initiative PH, an opportunity to go public, recruit more members, and establish contact with volunteer organizations and students from other schools.

Since then, The Initiative PH has worked with many partners on projects that aim to empower the youth through opportunities to help those in need. From Project Taft to Project Marawi, Project Lumad, Project CNHS, Project Tarlac, Project Galicia, Project Urduja, Project Vinta, Project Catbalogan, Project NOtriAsia, Project Lupang Ramos, Project Habagat-Karding, Project Ompong, and Project Pacific Plaza.

The pioneers now belong to different communities, the De La Salle University, the Ateneo de Manila University, the University of the Philippines, and other schools and companies. And we are looking for new members who will fight tooth and nail for the creation of new programs and, ultimately, the continuation of this celebrated organization.

Today, The Initiative PH completely revamps itself and opens its doors to new members. With its starting projects for the year 2019: Project Katipunan and Project Pitbull, the organization holds high hopes for a The Initiative PH that is better than ever.
